Almost there

Wow. What a beautiful property. You don't expect this in an obscure suburb of Buffalo. Everything is designed nicely and of high quality. However, several important details are missing. 1) My room came with butler service but nobody told me what the butler service entailed. There was no hotel directory in the room either. So I never had butler service even though I was supposed to receive it. 2) No doorman when I arrived. The front desk offered to help with luggage only after I started making my way toward the elevator. 3) Gorgeous lobby with a makeshift restaurant until the newly built restaurant opens. However, no lobby bar. Huge oversight. Sure, you can order drinks and they make them in the kitchen, but the lack of a bar and the lack of a happy hour is a huge mistake. I guess there will be a bar in the new attached restaurant but it isn't the same. Hotel has a gorgeous lobby and it should have a bar in the lobby. 4) My room was great. It was on par with what I've had at Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott properties. Except there was no desk. There was a tall writing stand, but that's hardly a real desk. I seriously don't understand why they didn't at least put a laptop stand next to the day bed/chaise lounge chair. 5) Also missing in the room besides the desk and hotel directory was a radio and alarm clock. The Amazon Alexa was nice but you can't really use it without a premium account. So no Spotify or Bluetooth streaming of music. 6) The mini-bar wasn't stocked with any beverages. 7) Supposedly there were newspapers in the lobby but I never saw them. There also wasn't any information for visitors on Buffalo or Niagara. Not even the quarterly tourist bureau magazines. 8) No envelope and stationary in the room. Not even a pantry selling postcards, Pepsi, snacks and whatever. Would have liked to send a postcard or letter from the hotel. 9) Turndown service consisted of a housekeeper folding back my sheet. No closing of drapes, no music, no water on the nightstand, no replenishment of used towels or toiletries, no placement of slippers by the bed. Nothing. If you aren't going to do a real turndown service don't. What was provided was not turndown service. 10) HVAC has no "auto" setting. 11) The old hotel used to have a pool. Sadly, this is gone. But regardless, there is a huge design flaw on the exterior. The entire hotel with its gorgeous architecture is surrounded by parking lots. They forgot to put a patio or lawn, where guests could have a drink outside, sunbathe, or just relax. They could easily fill in a half-dozen parking spaces with turf and bricks to create a space. Such a missed opportunity. Don't get me wrong. Reikart House is very nice. The staff were excellent. They all tried their best. Everything I said is an easy fix. The hotel is 90% of the way towards being the best hotel in the Buffalo area. These little details are all easy to fix and get right

Staff were polite and well-intended but the attention to details wasn't there. Gorgeous lobby with a makeshift restaurant until the newly built restaurant opens. However, there is no lobby bar. That is a huge oversight. I bet the hotel is losing a lot of ancillary F&B revenue. Amazing Stay

I had the pleasure of staying here just one night but would have loved to have extended for more. The room was just like the pictures and I did enjoy breakfast the next morning. (I had a build your own omelette.) It was delicious and they offered a coffee to go. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. I had a "walking boot" on my foot from a recent procedure and the staff was extremely helpful and the service was wonderful. I will definitely stay here again if future travels bring me to this area of New York. If you are reading this and considering booking this hotel....just stop and book it totally worth it you will not have any regrets!
